Born in South Africa, Sam was educated in South Africa and East Africa, studying Fine Art at the Johannesburg School of the Arts. After completing a BA at the Witwatersrand University, Sam left South Africa to settle in London.
Sam has been fascinated by the human form and facial structure for as long as she can remember, and completed her first life size portrait bust in terracotta clay when she was 14 years old, which was subsequently exhibited at the National Art Museum in Pretoria.
It is only in the last three years that Sam has embarked on a full time career in the arts, and after completing a course in figurative sculpture at The Slade (UCL) has met with great commercial and critical success.
Although inspired by Classical and Ancient forms, Sam’s dynamic and powerful work is perfectly suited to a contemporary environment.
Sam’s work is held in private collections in the UK, North America, the Middle East and South Africa, and she is represented by a number of UK based galleries and contemporary arts websites
